Professional wrestling, the sport where men are men and women, well debatable! It’s a sport where all the action is real. And, if you don’t believe what you see, just ask Vince McMahon.
Vince McMahon is Chairman of the Board of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. (WWE). He is a third generation promoter who has made WWE into the global phenomenon it is today. McMahon has bluffed and blustered his way into the ringmaster’s role of the testosterone-fuelled soap opera that is professional wrestling.
But accident prone Vince McMahon had – surprise, surprise - another accident. Vince was hurt when lighting equipment crashed onto the stage and a large electric sign toppled onto him at the AT&T Centre. Vince is accident prone and not only once has he been involved in many accidents. Vince McMahon’s ‘accident’ during Raw was designed to end the Million Dollar Giveaway, and to start a new angle that will involve other McMahon family members.
Last year, the former wrestler turned promoter was involved in another accident when his hire limousine burst into flames seconds after he, McMahon, got into it. The subsequent debut of the media circus in the investigation of who blew the limousine was a big time hype. It was dubbed the beginning of “who blew up Vince McMahon” story.
Did poor old Vince really fall for the old bomb-in-the-limo trick? Well, actually no. Subsequent investigations into the incident revealed that it was ‘a publicity stunt’ and that no emergency vehicles were called to the arena on the night in question.
Although it may not be all that clever to blow up a limo or to let an electric sign post to fall on the ‘big man,’ Vince is a master at creating controversy and grabbing the public’s attention. While it may have been painful to watch Vince being whisked out on a stretcher after being felled by an electric sign, we can all be assured that Vince, like another big man, ‘will be back.’
